A NUMBER of rail services between Saltburn and Bishop Auckland have been cancelled today due to a broken down train.

Northern Railway’s 6.14am service started from Middlesbrough this morning and did not call at Darlington, Dinsdale, Allens West, Eaglescliffe and Thornaby.

The rail operator said this was due to a broken down train.

An update on services due to run on the route throughout the rest of the day suggests many will not be able to run.

The affects trains running between Bishop Auckland, Shildon, Newton Aycliffe, Heighington, North Road, Darlington, Dinsdale, Allens West, Eaglescliffe, Thornaby, Middlesbrough, South Bank, Redcar Central, Redcar East, Longbeck, Marske and Saltburn.

On the website, Northern states: “06:59 Saltburn to Bishop Auckland due 08:22 will be cancelled.

“This is due to the train for this service having broken down.”

The operator’s website currently states that 8.26am, 11.26am, 2.26pm, 5.26pm and 8.26pm services from Bishop Auckland; 9.59am, 12.59pm, 3.59pm, 6.59pm and 9.59pm services from Saltburn are cancelled.
