SEVEN drivers were fined after appearing before magistrates in County Durham on Thursday accused of motoring offences.

The cases were heard in Peterlee and Newton Aycliffe.

  • Kent Edward Taylor, 50, of Thirlmere Road, Ferryhill, was found guilty of failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver.

It relates to an incident in Spennymoor on March 3, when he failed to give information to Durham Police relating to the identification of a Ford vehicle, who was alleged to have been found guilty of an offence.

He was not disqualified from driving on the basis of mitigating circumstances and was fined £768.

He also has to pay costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £77.

His driving licence was endorsed with six points.

  • Gaza Mkansi, 46, of Cambo Place, North Shields appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court charged with speeding in a 30mph zone in County Durham.

It happened on September 7, 2020 on the B1283 in Sherburn West.

He pleaded guilty and was fined £89, told to pay costs of £85 and the victim surcharge of £34.

He was also given three penalty points.

A charge of failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver was withdrawn.

  • James Doran, 43, of Dunston Road, Gateshead, was fined £80 after pleading guilty to speeding.

He admitted to speeding in a 30mph zone in Chester-le-Street, on the A693 Blind Lane on December 19, 2020.

He appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court and was also told to pay costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £34.

He was given four penalty points.

A charge of failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver was withdrawn.

  • Dean Anderson, 36, of East View, Seaham was guilty of speeding in a 30mph zone.

It happened in Chester-le-Street on March 16, 2021.

His driving licence was endorsed with five points and he was fined £307, told to pay costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £34.

  • Adam Ward, of Sandringham Way, Newfield, Chester-le-Street, was fined £1,000 by magistrates.

The 41-year-old was exceeding a 30mph limit on the A693 Blind Lane in Chester-le-Street on March 2, 2021.

He was also told to pay £100 to victim services and costs of £110.

He was given five penalty points when he appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

  • John Logan, 68, of Greenhaugh, West Moor in North Tyneside, was fined by magistrates on Thursday.

Logan was guilty of speeding in a 30mph zone in Maiden Law Bank, Lanchester on February 26, 2021.

Magistrates in Peterlee gave him three penalty points and told him to pay costs of £110 and a £34 victim surcharge.

  • Hannah Frances Gibson was banned from driving after admitting to being under the influence.

The 40-year-old, of Hartside View, Pity Me, appeared before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe on Thursday.

The charge relates to an incident on November 19, when she was driving in North Road while above the legal limit for alcohol.

She had 65 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, above the legal limit of 35.

She was fined £80, told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.

She was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
