A DARLINGTON woman has appeared in court after stealing booze and sweets worth more than £400 from a railway station shop.

Rachel Marie Watt appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 1.

The 39-year-old, of Park Place, Darlington, pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary.

It relates to an incident on October 25, when she entered Darlington railway station as a trespasser, entered WH Smith and stole items of confectionary and alcohol to the value of £403.11.

She was given a four-week prison sentence, suspended for six months.

Magistrates also told her to pay a victim surcharge of £128.
