A NUMBER of schools remain closed today after the devastation from Storm Arwen brought down power lines and caused huge disruption.
Eight schools in County Durham are currently listed as shut today (November 30) due to a lack of power and heating.
It comes as thousands of homes are still without power for the fourth day as the Northern Powergrid anticipates supply will be restored by midnight tonight.

Last night, Northern Powegrid said it had restored power to 211,000 out of an affected 240,000, while saying it would not stop until everyone is restored.
However, the following schools are listed on Durham County Council's website as remaining shut - with an estimated timeframe for reopening.
Bowes Hutchinson's CofE (Aided) School
The school will close on Tuesday (All day) and re-open on Wednesday (Morning).
Reason for closure: No power
Middleton-in-Teesdale Primary School
The school will close on Tuesday (All day) and re-open on Wednesday (Morning).
Reason for closure: Unfortunately, power has still not been restored to school therefore we have no heating or lighting. Hope to be back to normal by later this afternoon and open tomorrow.
Ramshaw Primary School
The school will close on Monday (All day) and re-open on Wednesday (Morning).
Reason for closure: There is no power or heating due to the disruption caused by Storm Arwen.
Rookhope Primary School
The school will close on Monday (All day) and re-open on Wednesday (Morning).
Reason for closure: we have no electricity, heating or telephone line.
St John's Chapel Primary School
The school will close on Monday (All day) and re-open on Wednesday (Morning).
Reason for closure: due to a powercut following Storm Arwen. Currently we are unsure when power will be restored.
Stanley (Crook) Primary School
The school will close on Monday (All day) and re-open on Wednesday (Morning).
Reason for closure: No power or heating at school and damage caused by Storm Arwen.
Wearhead Primary School
The school will close on Tuesday (All day) and re-open on Wednesday (Morning).
Reason for closure: due to a powercut following Storm Arwen. Currently we have no heating or electricity and are unsure when power will be restored.
Woodland Primary School
The school will close on Tuesday (All day) and re-open on Wednesday (Morning).
Reason for closure: No power.
