POLICE are appealing for information after a man was found with serious head injuries in Middlesbrough.

The 46-year-old man was located by police on Victoria Street at around 11.40pm yesterday (Sunday), with serious head injuries.

He was taken to James Cook University Hospital, where he remains in a 'critical' condition whilst receiving treatment.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances of how the man came about his injuries and are appealing to members of the public on Victoria Street and in the surrounding areas to check any private CCTV.

Police are also appealing to anyone in the area who may have heard or seen anything suspicious last night to get in touch with them on 101.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident number 203083.
