A TOWN’S homeless community have been offered the chance to get their Covid vaccine.
More than 40 patients without a permanent address attended the private clinic at Darlington’s vaccination hub at the Old Exchange, managed by the Darlington Primary Care Network.
The clinic was supported by Darlington Borough Council’s housing and health teams as well as third sector partners, including the 700 Club, Humankind and First Stop.
Janette McMain, housing manager at the authority, said: “People without a permanent address are often difficult to reach, so our teams have worked together with the NHS to invite people without permanent homes to the clinic.

“It’s brilliant that so many people attended the clinic and were able to get their boosters or take the opportunity to get a first or second dose.
“We’d like to thank the NHS and the partner organisations for making the clinic possible and protecting our communities as we move into the winter months.”
During the clinic, the patients were also provided with Christmas gifts and food parcels which had been donated, as well as rapid testing kits provided by the community testing scheme.
