The central space in the library is now dedicated to children's books and staff at the venue in Woodland Road hope it will entice more families to visit.

The Northern Echo:

The library, which had been shut since September for the refurbishment, has also been able to invest in some new furniture thanks to a donation of £2,710 from Darlington Building Society.

Cockerton Library is now back to operating its pre-pandemic opening hours.

The Northern Echo:

People visiting the library from now until November 30 have an extra incentive with a prize draw on offer to anyone who borrows a book.

Among the prizes are an afternoon tea for two from Pear Tree Hill Cafe and Tearoom, a hand-tied bouquet from First for Flowers, a gift voucher for Aldersons Butchers and a large cuddly bunny.
