WRAP up warm this weekend as Santa heads to a North East town full of festive entertainment.

The family fun starts on Sunday, November 28 with a Magical Middlesbrough Christmas spectacular.

The line-up features the parade, Christmas Lights Switch On, more outdoor film screenings, the chance to see the brand new festive window in House of Fraser and a host of Christmas characters.

The Magical Middlesbrough Parade will see a visit from Santa and his reindeer.

The new route starts and finishes at Middlesbrough Town Hall and takes in Corporation Road, Linthorpe Road and Grange Road, before returning along Albert Road, presenting plenty of opportunities to wave at Santa and his festive friends.

Following the parade, visitors can return to Centre Square to see the grand finale - the Christmas lights switch on at 4.30pm.

The festive fairground will also be open in Centre Square until 6pm.

Councillor Mieka Smiles, Middlesbrough Deputy Mayor and Executive member for Culture & Communities, said: "It's so brilliant to have Christmas events back in Middlesbrough and we're definitely starting the festive fun in style this weekend!

"There's so much to see and do and people can get together with all their family and friends to share in the Christmas cheer.

"We've got lots more events coming up as we head into December. We can't wait to see the town centre looking amazing and visitors and shoppers finding all they need for gifts, family fun and nights out with friends too."
