NORTH Yorkshire Police have urged victims to report “spikings” after a Whitby woman was allegedly “spiked” through injection while out in a nightclub.

The victim issued a statement on Facebook warning people to be “vigilant and careful in crowded places.”

She was allegedly spike while on a night out in Whitby nightclub JK’s and Raw, and found she was “stumbling about.”

According to her Facebook post she found she had been spiked through injection in her lower arm.

She said: “Been advised by hospital to share on, last night me and a few friends went into Whitby entering Abby warf, Jk’s and Raw night club.

“To be stumbling about as I entered Raw with only spending £12 the entire night! Turns out I had been spiked through injection.

“We aren’t sure where this has happened. Please be so vigilant and carful when your in crowded places with just people walking by, as this is just on the back of my lower arm! Such a scary experience.”

The incident has since been reported to the police.

North Yorkshire police said a similar incident was reported on Friday November 19 then a woman in her late teens became unwell and collapsed after returning home.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire police said: “We have been made aware of the ‘spiking’ issue in Whitby that was posted on social media over the weekend.

“However, the person involved has not yet formally reported the matter to the police. We urge her to do so as soon as possible so we can investigate the full circumstances.

“A similar report was received on Friday (19 November) which involved a woman aged in her late teens who became unwell and collapsed after returning home from a night out in Whitby on Saturday 13 November.

“Enquiries are ongoing into this incident and we ask anyone with information that could assist these potentially linked investigations to come forward without delay.

They added: “Please be assured that North Yorkshire Police is working closely with pubs and clubs to help tackle this worrying issue. We are encouraging premises to increase searches at entry points, and for staff to spot the signs of spiking to ensure victims receive immediate medical attention.

“We also encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim or witness to spiking - in any form - to contact the police as soon as possible so action can be taken.

“You must also seek immediate medical attention so early tests can be carried out to establish what substance has been used. Be that more alcohol, prescription or illegal drugs.”
