A TEAM of social workers is celebrating after winning a coveted national award.

The Darlington Council-led Keeping Families Together Team was a gold award winner in the Team of the Year category at the recent Social Worker of the Year awards.

The awards recognise social workers’ outstanding efforts during the last 12 months.

The Keeping Families Together team has been in place for several years and was recently expanded as part of the Strengthening Families programme.

Joseph Robb, interim service manager for the Keeping Families Together team, said: “This would not have been possible without the dedication, courage and personal approach of each member of the team. I am so proud of their can-do attitude.”

Councillor Jon Clarke, Cabinet member for Children and Young People, said: “This is an incredible and prestigious achievement. To have this talented team recognised in this way is a real testament to the work they are doing with families.”
