IMAGES have revealed the transformation that Captain Cook Square is set to go under.
One of the pictures shows lots of outdoor seating, bars, and leisure activities for the area in the town centre.
Middlesbrough Council bought the square for £8m last July as part of its plans to regenerate the area.
Mayor Andy Preston has plans to make it the ‘biggest regional leisure hub’ and it is supported with £9m worth of funding from the Future High Streets Fund (FHSF).

Lane 7 has already announced bowling alley plans for the old TJ Hughes site which will also have a go-kart track and mini-golf.
As part of the £9m plans, it is hoped that a brewery and boutique cinema will join the bowling alley in an attempt to attract people back to the town centre.
In September, 17.8 per cent of stores stood empty with huge shops like Debenhams, TJ Hughes, H&M, Topshop, Clarks, Monsoon and Miss Selfridge all closing.
The Captain Cook Square plans are a bid to create a more sustainable area with increased leisure to make the town centre less reliant on retail.
The council also plans to convince more people to live in the centre of Middlesbrough.
As part of its successful £14.1m bid to the FHSF, it proposed 650 new town centre homes for around 1,500 residents.
Boards have gone up at Captain Cook Square detailing other potential changes to the area.
This includes new lighting and murals to create a safer and more attractive link from the car park to the square, as well as outdoor seating beneath the canopy.
The decorative canopy railings and lights will be removed and the walls below the canopy will also receive a fresh lick of paint.
The existing lamp posts and cycle stands are also set to be taken out of the square to open it out.
