A NORTH Yorkshire petrol station has been crowned the best in the UK at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Exelby Services Ltd which owns the site at Ingelby Arncliffe, near Northallerton, landed the coveted Best Forecourt Trader of the Year at last month's Forecourt Trader Awards at the Park Plaza Hotel in London hosted by Strictly's Anton Du Beke.

The site operator recently celebrated the redevelopment of the Shell service area at Exelby Services on the A19 Northbound, featuring a full-size replica Ferrari Formula 1 car on the ceiling of the shop.

Exelby Services Ltd saw off strong competition from some of the biggest forecourt operators in the UK including Euro Garages and MFG.

The Northern Echo:

Rob Exelby, Managing Director of Exelby Services was thrilled to win the award which he dedicated to his fantastic teams of staff at their network of five sites across the North East.

"We're a relatively small operator in terms of numbers of sites but the sites that we do have are some of the busiest in the UK and we have a tremendous team of staff that not only keep them running but operate them to the highest standards in the industry, he said.

"We get fantastic feedback from our customers and this award is a testament to our team's hard work and great customer service."
