A STUDY has revealed that more people head to Yorkshire for a hot tub holiday than anywhere else in the UK.

According to self-catering specialist Awaze, Yorkshire has already attracted three times more hot tub holiday bookings through Hoseasons and cottages.com than Cornwall this year, and nearly twice as many as the Lake District.

The study revealed that the trend looks set to continue with Yorkshire shaping to be the nations go-to destination for a bubbly break.

More than 21 per cent of Hoseasons customers booking a hot tub holiday for January or February will be heading to Yorkshire.

Paul Evans, vice president of Portfolio at Awaze, said: “We’ve seen huge growth in demand for luxury hot tub getaways across the UK over the last few years – something that is clearly paying off for Yorkshire holiday locations that have invested in their accommodation and facilities and kept pace with rising customer expectations.

“People quite rightly want more than they get at home when they book to go away in the UK these days. They’re looking for top quality locations, affordable luxuries and plenty to see and do - and that’s exactly what they get from a hot tub break in this fabulous part of the world.”

Phil Mackay, director at award-winning East Yorkshire holiday retreat Raywell Hall Country Lodges, said: ““The introduction of hot tubs was one of the best decisions we ever made as a business.

“Not only have they revolutionised the customer experience and allowed us maximise our returns on what is essentially a luxury product, they’ve also been the catalyst for further investment that is already helping to set us apart from the competition.”

Carolyn Nicoll, head of communications at Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “Yorkshire has an impressive offering of breathtaking countryside, spectacular coastline, vibrant cities, amazing attractions, astounding arts and heritage, wonderful wildlife, as well as fabulous food, drink and so much more.

“What better way to relax after exploring the county than in a relaxing hot tub at one of Yorkshire’s many lovely locations? It’s just one of many reasons why the region is so popular.”
