All lanes have now re-opened on the A1M between junction 48 at Boroughbridge and junction 49 after an earlier crash.
AN earlier accident closed one lane of the road.
Heavy traffic built up due to accident on the Northbound carriageway between junction 48, the A6055 for Boroughbridge and junction 49 Ripon Road for Thirsk and Dishforth.
Drivers were being asked to find alternative routes if possible or expect delays., police road traffic officers said the road reopened from 9am.
