SWASHBUCKLING seafarers and the search for hidden treasure feature in a theatre’s popular Christmas panto over the coming festive season.

Consett Empire Theatre’s family Christmas show this year is Treasure Island.

The pantomime follows Benjamin Gunn, played by Gareth Arthurs, in an adventure on the high seas, involving grizzly pirates and the search for hidden treasure using his grandfather’s ancient map.

It is produced and directed by Leah Bell, who is celebrating her tenth year working with the Empire on its Christmas panto.

She also plays Benjamin’s aunt, Gertrude Gunn.

Treasure Island will run from November 27 to December 31, with a sign language matinee, at 3pm, and a “relaxed performance” at 11am. both on December 29.

Opening night tickets are priced at £10, and the following performances will be £17 or £15 for concessions, while family tickets are £56.

School and group discounts are also available.
