A BASEBALL bat and three makeshift swords were among the items seized when they were found in the boot of a car.

A man has now been arrested in connection with the incident, which happened in Hartlepool on Tuesday.

Officers from Cleveland Police stopped the car because it was suspected the driver did not have insurance.

They stopped the white Mercedes Benz on Elliott Street, in Hartlepool at about 5.20pm on Tuesday, October 26.

The vehicle was seized for having no insurance and was searched, a spokesperson for Cleveland Police said.

During the search, officers found a metal baseball bat, along with three makeshift swords, in the boot of the vehicle.

The items were seized by police.

A police spokesperson said: "A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and he remains in police custody at this time."
