BUS services in parts of the region have been disrupted today because of driver shortages.

Go North East says it has had to reduce a number of its services due to a national driver shortage and higher than usual levels of sickness absence. 

In a statement, the company said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please do not take any issues out on our team who are at work and operating our other journeys – it's not their fault.

"They, like everyone else, are trying their best to operate as good a service as possible."

It is affected services including ones from Durham, Chester-le-Street, Consett, Stanley, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sunderland and Gateshead

Services were also disrupted yesterday.

The services affected today include the X5, X15, X9, X10, X30, X31, X45, X46, X70, X71, X72, Connections4, Country Ranger 8, 8A, Tyne Valley 10, 10A, 10B, Durham Diamond 16, 16A, Angel 21, Go North East 25, Go North East 26, Crusader 27, Go North East 29,  Red Kite Ranger 47, 47A, Go North East 49, 49A, 49C, Go North East 50, Voltra 53, 54, Go North East 57, East Gateshead Rider 58, Country Ranger 78, Little Pinks 84, Little Pinks 85.
