POLICE are appealing after a robbery in a North East town whereby a man, aged in his sixties, was assaulted and had his car stolen.

The man was parked in Aldi car park on Marton Road around 8pm on Tuesday, October 19, when a woman approached the vehicle and opened the rear door, asking for a lift. Whilst the door was open the woman sat in the back along with a man, who then lunged at the victim and attempted to take the car keys.

The suspect then verbally abused the victim and he was assaulted before the victim got out of the car and the man got into the driver’s seat and then drove off with the vehicle, a red Seat Ibiza.
