THE life of a well-loved radio presenter who died after a battle with Covid-19 is to be celebrated with a special tribute next week.

Julie Donaldson who was Zetland FM’s breakfast show presenter died on October 31 last year, following more than three weeks in intensive care with coronavirus.

Mrs Donaldson played a key role in setting up Zetland FM in 2015 and was a much-loved voice on the airwaves, who championed the town and local issues.

On the evening of Friday, October 29, Zetland FM, along with Mrs Donaldson’s family and friends, will be celebrating her life and varied broadcasting career at an event in Redcar.

They hope that there will be plenty of smiles as they look back at the life of an inspirational woman.

Mrs Donaldson was named Best Female Presenter at the Community Radio Awards in 2018.

Her ‘Morning Mix’ show picked up the Best Community Radio Programme prize at the 2019 Community Radio Award.

Although the event is invitation-only, Mrs Donaldson’s family have made a limited number of places available for Zetland FM listeners who would like to attend.
