Police are appealing for information after a man aged in his 60s was robbed in a North East town.

The incident happened at around 7.55pm on Sunday, October 17, in an area known locally as ‘The Rec’ in Grangetown.

The man was walking in the direction of South Bank when he was approached by a group of around eight males, some riding pedal bikes.

One of the males was carrying a weapon described as a knife. He demanded the man’s Tissot watch and wallet.

The group made off from the scene in the direction of Church Lane, opposite the Church Lane and Monmouth Road junction.

The males were described as being aged between 13 and 17. The male reported as carrying the weapon was around 5ft 8" tall.

Any witnesses or anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the watch, or anyone with dashcam footage from the location is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number 177019.
