A MAN was taken to hospital after a house fire at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Skerries Walk, Darlington, just before 9:30am on Saturday.

Two crews from North East Ambulance Service and a crew from Durham and Darlington Fire Service attended the scene.

The fire was later extinguished but the cause and the extent of the property's damage remains unknown.

A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 9.28am on Saturday, 16 October, to reports of a fire at an address on Skerries Walk, Darlington.

“We dispatched two ambulance crews, and one patient was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for further treatment.”

County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service was contacted for comment.
