A COMPETITION to find the most popular South Asian restaurant in Darlington has been launched. 

The winner of the competition will go on to compete in the national Tiffin Cup 2021 competition - an event that seeks to find the best South Asian Restaurant in the UK.

MPs have been asked to nominate one restaurant from their constituency with the lucky winner going on to battle it out for the title of national winner. 

Here are some of the best restaurants in Darlington:

  • Bengal Heritage - 121 Gladstone Road
  • Akbar the Great - 43/44 Bondgate
  • Duke Bombay Cafe - 22 Duke Street
  • Cafe Spice - 19 Chalks Walk
  • Reema - 18 Conniscliffe Road
  • Spice Garden - 112-114 Parkgate
  • Table Talk Indian Diner - 3 The Square, Middleton- St. George
  • Star of Bengal - 24 Duke Street

Darlington'S MP Peter Gibson is asking his constituents to take part by emailing their nominations to peter.gibson.mp@parliament.uk.

Peter Gibson MP said: “Darlington has many great South Asian restaurants and it would be fantastic to see a Darlington restaurant win the national Tiffin Cup 2021”.

The national final takes place in January 2022 and will see restaurants from across the UK battle it out in front of guest judges, including Chef Ainsley Harriott MBE.

Entries close on Friday, November 19.
