A MASTER jam maker who has picked up numerous awards is launching a cookery class.

Rosalind Waugh, who has a passion for locally-grown and made jams and chutneys, scooped a coveted 2 Star award in the 2021 national Great Taste Awards - her seventh GTA accolade since 2018.

The Marton Manor resident grows much of her produce herself on her Saltersgill allotment.

She is now launching a cookery class at Middlesbrough's Live Centre.

She said: "Getting a Great Taste Award is not easy, so I was really delighted to win a 2 Star award this year.

"I have always loved sharing my knowledge and skills, firstly as a pioneering radiographer and now as a master preserve maker.

"Hosting preserve making classes is a new venture for my business and I am really excited to be able to share my knowledge in making preserves.

"The opportunity to use the spacious and well equipped training kitchen in the Live Well Centre in Dundas Arcade was too good to miss, so I can't wait to get started."

Live Well Centre Manager Kerry Melling said: "The Live Well Centre and Public Health South Tees are pleased to support any new initiative that helps Middlesbrough residents live a happier, healthier lifestyle.

"Lots of us have turned to home cooking and baking during the pandemic, but there's also a real drive to get more people eating healthier, fresher food.

"Rosalind's chutneys and jams are packed with local produce, and her classes will be a great chance for people to learn how to make their own."
