A NORTH Yorkshire water park has been given permission to install a brand-new twin zipline across one of its lakes.

North Yorkshire Water Park, in Wykeham near Scarborough, will build the 13-metre-high tower and 250m long ziplines over the second largest lake on the site, a short distance from the southern peninsular which sees most of the watersports take place.

Two climbing walls will also adorn the tower, which are set to be built from Dawnay Estates timber, in line with the rest of the new buildings.

Although no official date for the opening has been released, North Yorkshire Water Park hope it will be in operation by early 2022.

David Steel, chief executive of the Dawnay Estates, said: “This is another significant milestone for us at North Yorkshire Water Park, as we commence the building of another headline attraction.

“We have invested over £1 million into the business over the past year, and the zipline is a key part of our vision for the site, which has enjoyed huge popularity particularly this summer since the major expansion of facilities.

“As well as the zipline and our new climbing walls, we have also recently announced the opening of our new ‘251 Events Room’, adding to our private and corporate offerings.”
