Automotive parts manufacturers, wiring specialists and excavator makers are among the region’s businesses actively looking to onboard new staff over the coming months.

Nissan UK

On the back of the news that Nissan is to invest c. £1 billion into its North East plant over the next decade, the company has already sparked a major recruitment drive.

In total, the firm expects over 1,650 jobs to be created at its planned electric vehicle hub in the city, with 6,00 jobs in total being created across Nissan and its wider supplier chain.

Komatsu

Excavator manufacturer Komatsu UK is creating more than 80 jobs at its award-winning Birtley plant, as well as 10 apprenticeships.

The roles include cover factory and support department operations, including production, assembly, welding and fabrication, purchasing, design and logistics and come after the company secured a raft of orders during the pandemic.

The recruitment drive also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the company’s Japanese parent company.

Faltec

Japanese automotive specialist Faltec Europe Ltd is going through a period of huge transformation and investment since relocating to the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) in Sunderland.

This has seen the company create scores of jobs over recent months, with vacancies currently available in everything from forklift drivers to team leaders, technicians, toolmakers, quality assurance and production operators.

The company has also committed to investing in the region’s young talent, with apprenticeships available in both business administration and multiple maintenance roles.
