MOTORISTS have been warned to expect delays after police closed a road due to a crash involving multiple cars.
The crash happened on a section of the A177 between Thorpe Thewels and Tesco on Durham Road north of Stockton.
Commuters are being diverted away from a major road linking Stockton to Sedgefield and are being asked to find ‘alternative routes.’
A police spokesman said: “We were called at 2:50pm to reports of a three-vehicle collision, in which one vehicle has gone into a field. The air ambulance has been called. The road is closed and could be closed for several hours.”
The crash comes a week after a previous multi-car collision in which 19-year-old Blaine Darnell tragically died.
