BIG-HEARTED golfers have chipped in £1,000 to help a severely disabled little boy in the North-East.

Eighteen teams of four players, from across the region, took part in a charity golf day at Blackwell Grange Golf Club, in Darlington, to raise vital funds for Joseph Teasdale.

Five-year-old Joseph, of Middleton St George, has a rare chromosome deletion condition, which causes profound physical and learning difficulties and other health problems.

The golf day, which had SG Petch Darlington as its main sponsor, raised £1,000 towards providing Joseph with private intensive therapy.

The winning team was TSM window Cleaning Services, and the trophy was presented by Craig Saunders, manager of SG Petch Darlington manager.

Joseph’s grandmother, Mandy Hadland, who launched the charity Joseph’s Dream, said: “It was a fantastic community effort, and we are so grateful to Craig at SG Petch Darlington for all his support. It couldn’t have happened without him caring so much.”

SG Petch offered a car for a hole in one on the ninth hole and sponsored other holes with short breaks to Spain as prizes. Other businesses also sponsored holes.

Joseph’s family have applied for help from the world-famous pediatric therapy centre, Napa, based in the US and Australia, which offers an intensive model of treatment for children with neurological disorders.

Napa is due to have a pop-up clinic in Ireland and the family will find out on October 4 if their application has been successful.

Further funds for Joseph’s Dream will be raised with a scarecrow festival at Middleton St George at the weekend.
