A major platform has been launched to help Teesside firms find vital new contracts.
Opportunity website Teesside Tenders has been started by North East tech start-up Opportuni, which has itself seen phenomenal growth since its inception in March 2020.
The new site, www.teessidetenders.co.uk enables Teesside businesses for the first time to have complete freedom to search and access local contract opportunities in one simple-to-use website. The array of contracts on the platform covers the local councils, NHS, housing associations, the university and much more.
Following the successful launch the platform, which helps to source and scope relevant tenders using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms will help SMEs uncover relevant and winnable contracts.
It has already had the backing of the Federation of Small Businesses, where Reshma Begum, Development Manager in the North East said: “Procurement is an essential lever through which to support small business growth and innovation.
"Although councils and public sector organisations make efforts to ensure small businesses have access to the supply chain opportunities on offer, one of the biggest barriers in doing so is the lack of awareness amongst the business community of the tenders for which they can bid.
"It is fantastic to see the issue addressed across the Tees Valley. The platform fills a much-needed gap between suppliers and the opportunities across the region, bringing together all of the information in a single coherent manner.
"This will be pivotal in ensuring local contracts are awarded to local businesses, allowing them to grow, innovate and prosper which will in turn significantly contribute to the wider regional economic prosperity.”
Tim Ward, Opportuni Co-Founder and CEO said, “We are delighted by the response to the launch of Teesside Tenders, and to have the backing of Reshma and the regional team at the FSB is fantastic.
"The amount of government spending with SMEs is at its highest rate in almost a decade. We are bringing transparency to the process to support great businesses locally.”
Local authorities across the country are targeted with spending at least a third of their budget with small and medium sized businesses. With thousands of great local businesses across Teesside with huge growth potential, this free resource will help more of those local businesses to find and secure high-value contracts which can offer long-term stability.
Opportuni is on track to become the first billion-dollar business in Tees Valley, despite a global pandemic - achieving over 500% growth over the last six months.
