A STRETCH of the A19 has been closed both ways after a crash this morning.
Emergency services have been called to the the A19 at Thirkleby, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
The crash is understood to have happened between The Avenue and Low Lane, the Coxwold turn-off, at about 5.30am.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed the road has been shut in both directions which is causing heavy traffic and affecting travel between Thirsk and York.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible.
