A DISPERSAL order has been put in place in Ingleby Barwick, due to a small rise in antisocial behaviour reports in the early part of September.

The order will run from 5pm this evening (Friday) until 5pm on Sunday (September 26) and covers the areas shown in the map.

The order is put in place to help prevent antisocial behaviour and crime by giving police the power to disperse large groups of youths from the area for a period of 48 hours. Anyone who does not comply or returns to the area within 48 hours can be arrested.

The dispersal order will not have an impact on residents going about their normal business.

Inspector Jon Willoughby from Stockton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are aware of some issues in Ingleby Barwick whereby we have seen a small rise in antisocial behaviour reports in the early part of September when compared to August. There have been 29 reports of antisocial behaviour in September, compared to 26 in August.

“The neighbourhood police team have worked with our partners in Stockton Borough Council Community Safety to target the main offenders and locations. Further work is ongoing to address some pockets of disorder that have developed.

“Local officers will be engaging with the community to discuss their concerns and will be acting upon them. We are adopting a proactive prevention approach to reducing issues and this includes diversionary work and outreach.

“We would advise those with any information to call ourselves on 101 or report via our website. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org."
