DETECTIVES in Middlesbrough are appealing for information after an attack left a man needing hospital treatment for numerous facial injuries.

The 61-year-old victim was on Park Vale Road in the town at around 2.30am last Saturday, (September).

He was approached by two men and they asked him for a cigarette which he handed them.

One of the suspects then hit the man with a glass bottle, causing him to fall to the ground.

The only description police have is of two white males.

Anyone who may have been in the area and seen the men or the incident itself, including anyone with dash cam or private CCTV, is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID via the 101 number, quoting ref 157967.
