TWO people were arrested when this car was stopped following a late night police chase.

Police officers attempted to stop a black BMW in the Metal Bridge area, near Ferryhill, County Durham, on Friday night.

The vehicle subsequently failed to stop and was pursued by roads policing officers around the Ferryhill area before coming to a stop near Mainsforth.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of six offences including dangerous driving.

The passenger of the vehicle was also arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owners consent.

A spokesperson for Durham police said both were subsequently released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
