SINGER songwriter Ed Sheeran has confirmed he is to play a gig in the North-East as part of his forthcoming European tour.

The 30-year-old superstar will be performing at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland for two nights next June.

He will play at the home of the Black Cats on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4, 2022, over the Bank Holiday weekend to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The tour starts in April and includes gigs across the UK, Ireland, Central Europe and Scandinavia.

The guitarist is expected to play tracks from his upcoming album, +-=÷x, live for the first time, and fans will also experience a new production set-up with Ed’s staging in the round, surrounded by the crowd in each stadium.

The ‘+ - = ÷ x Tour’ will see Ed return to stadiums for the first time since his record-breaking Divide Tour, which officially became the most-attended and highest-grossing tour ever.

Ed’s new album will be released on October 29.

He is poised to replace himself at number one in the UK’s Official Singles Chart following the release of his new single, Shivers, which was performed for the first time at last weekends’ MTV VMA’s.

It follows his comeback track, Bad Habits, that has so far spent 11 consecutive weeks at the top.

General sale for all dates will start on Saturday, September 25, and tickets will be available to purchase at www.edsheeran.com.
