Thousands of spectators are also set to gather along the 13.1 mile route in Newcastle and Gateshead as the run begins.

But if you're at home, you'll also be able to watch as the BBC is set to provide coverage throughout the day.

Here's when the Great North Run will be shown

The Great North Run will be broadcast live on BBC Two from 9am to 10am.

Footage from the run will then be shown on neighbouring channel, BBC One until 1.30pm.

A special highlights show recapping the race will be shown later this evening back on BBC Two at 5pm.

If you have continued to be affected by the disruption at Bilsdale Mast, you can also view the coverage on the BBC iPlayer by clicking here.

A spokesperson for the Great North Run said: "We’ve been waiting for this day for almost two years, and we can’t wait to give you a day to remember.

"The Red Arrows will be popping by to give you a fly-by on the day and soaring across the skies of Newcastle on event day, so keep a look out for the iconic sight as the fly overhead."
