A HOLIDAY operator is set to operate a series of ABBA and Mamma Mia-inspired flights and holidays from the North East.

Jet2, which has said it has launched the holidays to coincide with the group’s reunion after 40 years, has unveiled a number of trips departing from Newcastle Airport.

The holiday operator has said it has compiled a “Super Trouper” list of destinations across the islands that featured in both Mamma Mia films.

From visits to the actual filming locations including The Old Port of Skiathos and the St Nikolaos Bell Tower, Jet2 said the trips would begin later this year.

It comes as the iconic group has come together for the first time in four decades to release their new album, Voyage.

The album, which will be released on November 5, has been long-awaited and highly anticipated by fans across the globe.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: “Following the exciting news that ABBA has reunited after 40 years apart, there’s no better time to ‘voyage’ to the breath-taking Greek islands featured in the ABBA-inspired films, Mamma Mia.

“The leading tour operator to many destinations across the Mediterranean has compiled a selection of ‘Super Trouper’ Greek destinations that will have you saying ‘Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie’. Even better, with deals like this, you’ll be able to save some real ‘Money, Money, Money'."

The holiday operator has said destinations from Newcastle Airport include Santorini, Corfu, Skiathos and Rhodes.
