WHEN is the appropriate time for shops to start selling Christmas decorations?
It seems to get earlier every year and shoppers have recently reacted with horror at the fact festive decorations were being sold in August.
Early shoppers have argued the months of September and October are where the best bargains can be had and therefore stock up on supplies as soon as they can.
To see if that's the case in Darlington we have had a look around shops in the town centre to see if any September bargains can be had.
B&M
If you're after bags, crackers, wrapping paper or gift tags then B&M is the place to go. Although its Christmas section is pretty small at the moment, it is expected to expand with more gift ideas over the coming months.
Card Factory
The clue's in the name but the store in the Queens Street Shopping Center is packed full with cards already, three months in advance.
Whether it's singular cards or multi-packs for friends and family you want then this is one of the best places in the town to purchase them.

Poundland
Christmas decorations are on sale here at the High Row store but it's fair to say the current selection is limited.
There's a selection of festive-themed fairy lights, tumblers, Santa and snowman path lights and cuddly toys currently on sale.
But the store's current selection looks a bit bare and there's no doubt more will be appearing on the shelves soon.
The Range
The store's Christmas advent Gonks reportedly sold out in two days - but perhaps the most shocking news is that decorations were first spotted last month in August.
Trees and gifts had hit the shelves four months before with the retailer admitting its early sales, which started on August 26, were influenced by growing consumer demand for the products.
- What do you think? Is September too early for Christmas decorations to be sold in shops?
