FRIENDLY faces have moved into Darlington to help the council spread its message about recycling right.

Residents will be seeing a lot more of Benji and his friends in the coming months on social media, around town and in local neighbourhoods.

Videos starring the animated bins have been created to encourage people to put the right rubbish in the appropriate bin.

The videos, which are available on the council's website and will be used on social media, have called on residentas to recycle and tell the story of what happens to your bin if you put the wrong rubbish in it and how easy it is to make your bin happy by recycling right.

Andy Keir, Darlington Council’s cabinet member for local services said: “I am delighted to welcome Benji and his friends to Darlington.

"This is a new, novel way to get everyone recycling right. The videos are really good fun and I hope they will inspire people of all ages to do the right thing.

"I know it can sometimes be confusing but if we all make the effort to put the right things in the right bin it will make a big difference."
