A GANG of teenagers pelted police officers with missiles when they were called out to an incident last night.

Officers were in the Foggy Furze area of Hartlepool, at around 9pm, when a large crowd of young people threw objects at them.

Cleveland Police said the youths were aged about 14 or 15 and, whilst officers were at the scene, the force used social media to urge parents to get them home and away from the trouble.

In a statement on Facebook, a Cleveland Police spokesperson said last night: "Our emergency workers have enough to deal with, without being confronted by this.

"Parents with teenagers in the local area are encouraged to contact them before the situation escalates, as there will be consequences for their actions."
