POLICE have issued an appeal following the theft of a handbag in Redcar.

Police are appealing to identify and trace this man (pictured) as they would like to speak to him regarding the theft of an elderly lady’s handbag in Redcar a couple of weeks ago.

At around 2.50pm on Monday, August 16, the lady placed the small black handbag on the ground somewhere in the town centre and, because she was carrying several other bags, forgot to pick it up.

The handbag contained what’s described as a “substantial” amount of money, cards and a passport.
