MONSTER trucks and fun fair rides will be among the attractions at a carnival event next month.

Paul and Lucy Evans from Carnival Fun Fairs will stage the event at Hackworth Park, Shildon, in County Durham, on Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12.

They say, with events at Newcastle Town Moor and Durham Miners’ Gala cancelled this year, it promises to be the region's biggest fun fair this summer.

Mr Evans said: “This will be one massive family fun event and much needed party with free admission, free to watch monster trucks where the huge turbo beasts decimate cars and accelerate at such a speed they leap into the air.

"People can also actually ride on a monster truck!

“Coupled with this, the event will boast a world food court an all-day continental bar and the biggest fun fair Shildon has ever seen including a 120ft theme park ride and golden carousel amongst many others.”

The fun fair will be open from 11am to 7pm.
