FOOD and craft producers from County Durham will showcase what they have to offer at a harvest seasonal market this weekend.

Raby Castle at Staindrop, near Barnard Castle, will host the event on Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, 29.

Some of Raby’s own seasonal produce will also be available to purchase including home-reared Longhorn beef bred on the estate and Raby Park reared venison.

Sophie Brown, events manager at Raby, said: “There are so many incredible producers in County Durham, and what better way to champion these than to give them an opportunity to showcase what they’re all about at our harvest seasonal market.

“We see Raby as an integral part of its local community, and the ambitious development programme that we will soon be undertaking here will provide local producers with even more opportunities as we look to increase our events programme within our newly designed public areas.”

Takeaway food and drink will be available and the Stables Café will be open.

Tickets can also be purchased to visit Raby Castle, Park and Gardens and there is a magical fairy tale story trail to enjoy, which sees visitors searching high and low for enchanted objects from much-loved folk tales.

Entry to the harvest seasonal market is free. General admission tickets to Raby Castle, Park and Gardens cost £13 for adults, £6.50 for children five to 15yrs, and under fives go free.
