THE thrills and spills of the Big Top come to the large screen in a unique outdoor setting tomorrow.

Ushaw, the former Roman Catholic seminary, historic house and chapel, near Durham, stages The Greatest Showman in its picturesque grounds, after sunset.

The hit 2017 film musical, starring Hugh Jackman in the lead role as 19th Century circus impresario PT Barnum, and featuring a multi-award-winning score, is the latest screening on the Ushaw calendar.

Access to the grounds, off Woodland Road, between Ushaw Moor, Bearpark and Esh Village, will be from 7pm, but curtain up will only take place when light conditions permit, when it is considered dark enough, at approximately 8.30pm, with the film running until about 10.50pm.

Filmgoers can pre-order a late afternoon tea, priced at £12.50 each, while snacks and refreshments will also be available from The Bounds Cafe on site.

Tickets, costing £12-upwards, can be booked by emailing events@ushaw.org, or by ringing 0191-334 8500.
