A BRAND new chicken restaurant - and the first of its kind in the North East - is set to open tomorrow.

Slim Chickens is set to open its newest restaurant in Metrocentre's upper 'Qube,' in the Yellow Mall, on Thursday morning.

It comes as the US-born firm has opened 13 other stores across the UK in recent months, with meals promising something different.

Earlier this month, Metrocentre bosses revealed the chain would be coming to the shopping centre as details were revealed.

Now the chain has said the restaurant is set to open at 10.30am each day as it prepares for its grand opening.

A spokesperson for Slim Chickens said: "Slims’ as it is affectionately known, is quickly building a reputation as one of the up-and-coming restaurant brands in the UK and has chosen the Metrocentre as its first dining destination in the North East - marking its 14th UK opening - on Thursday 19th August, when it will throw open the doors."

Family seating, intimate tables and booths

Opening adjacent to Five Guys and opposite the Buffet King, the restaurant will have capacity to seat more than 100 diners, with family seating, intimate tables and booths.

A spokesperson added: "Diners can choose the brand’s signature buttermilk-marinated chicken and house specialties including crispy tenders alongside a huge range of 15 dipping sauces.

"These include Slim’s signature sauces, Blue Cheese, Ranch, Honey BBQ, Sriracha Garlic and the fiery Inferno – with serious heat.

"Also on offer is a wide selection of fresh chicken sandwiches, wings, salads and wraps as well as sides such as fried pickles and mac’n’cheese."

As part of the opening, Slim Chickens has said around 50 jobs have been created with roles across the business as well as the opportunity for career progression.
