TWO separate serious assaults involving hammers and a glass are being investigated by police.

Both assaults happened last night, one outside The Foundry pub in Eston and one inside.

The first report was of a serious assault outside the Foundry pub on High Street, Eston at around 7.20pm on August 14.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with this incident but enquiries are still ongoing.

Police suspect the male victim, aged in his 20s, was hit over the head, possibly with a glass, before he was punched multiple times to the face and body.

He required hospital treatment including multiple stitches for the wounds.

The second assault was at around 9.15pm and a report of three unknown men wearing balaclavas who entered the pub, hit a man in his 30s over the head with a hammer, and ran off.
