UP TO a million people have been left without TV and radio signal after a fire broke out at a Bilsdale TV mast yesterday.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene saying they were "in attendance tacking a fire at Bilsdale transmitting centre, which includes Bilsdale mast."

The fire had been extinguished last night, however, a 300 metre exclusion zone remains around the mast.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We will return tomorrow when the site is declared safe to bring the incident to a conclusion."

As a result of the fire a lot of people have been left without TV and radio.

Middlesbrough is set to play Blackpool in the League Cup tonight at 7.45pm.

How can I tune into the match?

BBC Sport Tees issued a statement on Twitter this morning saying they were currently off-air on FM following the fire at the Bilsdale transmitter. 

The statement added: "Tonight's Blackpool v Middlesbrough match in the League Cup will broadcast on DAB in most areas.

"We are unable to broadcast the game on BBC sounds and online due to right restrictions."
