A POPULAR music event in the park is set to return to Darlington this weekend.

The Proms in the Park will be returning to South Park on Sunday.

The last event was held in 2019, when hundreds of people turned out for the popular event.

Families are being invited to come along with a picnic and enjoy an afternoon of free performances.

The event is being organised by ABF The Soldier’s Charity and Darlington Borough Council.

It takes place at the bandstand and will feature a music catering for a range of tastes, including The Royal Signals Northern Band, Pipes and Drums 102 Battalion REME and The Soldiers of Swing, who were semi-finalists on Britain’s Got Talent.

The concert will conclude with a rousing 'Last Night of the Proms' set.

It is on from 3pm and people are being encouraged to bring along their own picnic.

The event is free but people are being encouraged to make a donation to ABF The Soldier’s Charity.
