FLOWER club members are supporting North-East cancer treatment as meetings sprout up again after the lockdown.

Darlington Flower Club’s meetings will resume on Wednesday, September 1, at 2pm in St Cuthbert’s Church Hall, Darlington, and visitors are always welcome.

The first meeting back will be followed by the club’s Annual Charity Day at Headlam Hall from 10am on September 8. The event includes a range of stalls and Northern Echo columnist Peter Barron will be guest speaker.

Tickets are £30 each, including lunch, and are available by calling 01325 469881.

The club’s chosen charity this year is the “Centre of Excellence for Cancer” appeal launched last year by the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust’s charity. The appeal aims to expand and improve the Chemotherapy Day Centre at the University Hospital of North Durham.

Club chairman Jane Currie said: “Please come along and have a great day while supporting this very worthy cause.”
