A WOMAN was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after two pedestrians were hit by a car in Darlington.

The crash happened in Grange Road at about 3.30am on Sunday.

Police say it involved a Nissan Micra, which is believed to have driven onto the path, hitting two pedestrians and colliding with a lamppost.

Two people were injured, including a woman in the her 30s, who was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

The other pedestrian suffered minor injuries. 

A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving and has been released under investigation. 

A Durham Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to reports of a one vehicle collision involving two pedestrians on Grange Road, Darlington shortly after 3.30am on Sunday morning (August 1).

"It involved a Nissan Micra which is believed to have driven onto the path, hit two pedestrians and then collided with a lamppost.

"A woman, in her 30s was taken to James Cook hospital with leg injuries while the other pedestrian attended with minor injuries.

"A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving, she has since been released under investigation."
