STARS of the big screen are descending on York this summer for the York Unleashed Comic-Con.

The event is a haven for film and comic-lovers and features big-name guests including Julian Glover of Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and James Bond as well as James Cosmo of Sons of Anarchy and Trainspotting.

Other cult figures taking part are Mike Quinn of The Muppets, and Labyrinth, Stephen Calcutt of Harry Potter and the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Lewis MacLeod of Star Wars.

The event, on August 8, covers the whole six floors of the Knavesmire building at York Racecourse with a host of stalls and attractions.

These include an inflatable shooting range, axe-throwing and archery, while the Jurassic Park jeep and Captain America’s motorbike will be parked in the courtyard.

Visitors can check out the Ghostbusters on the second mezzanine as well as the free to play retro gaming.

As well as guests and attractions there are comic creators, authors and lots of traders with tons of toys, Funko Pops, comics, collectables, art, jewellery, gaming and more.

Visitors are also encouraged to go along dressed as a TV, movie, game or anime character.

Those in costume can enter the cosplay competition with the opportunity to win prizes.

"We always have an amazing attendance with lots of people coming along from all over the country and enjoying the fun to be had indoors and outdoors.

"It has a party-like atmosphere and is a fantastic comic-con to attend whether you are a comic-con veteran or first-time comic-con attendee - you won’t be disappointed.”
