ATTRACTIONS across North Yorkshire are gearing up to celebrate Yorkshire Day on August 1.

Among those planning special events is Nunnington Hall, near Helmsley, which will be marking the occasion with a host of celebratory guests and events.

Visitors to the National Trust site can watch Morris Dancing by the Leeds Morris Men and Yorkshire dialect singing from singer and farmer John Greaves who will perform well-known folk songs.

Hannah Highsted, of Nunnington Hall, said: “We’re really looking forward to celebrating Yorkshire Day at Nunnington Hall this year.

"It’s great to be starting up our events programme after a difficult year and we’re proud to be showing off local performers and traditions on Yorkshire Day.

"So come along and sit back and relax in the deckchairs and be entertained, or have a go at some garden games.”

The house, exhibitions and gardens will also be open, and the café is open for drinks and snacks. Nunnington’s garden team will also host rose tours throughout the day too.
